Procedure for Cloning DAC
Using the DAC Automation utils it is very straightforward to preserve the system settings from one environment before the cloning.
Before cloning the production repository database you issue the EXPORTCATEGORY command.
./dacAutomationUtils.sh EXPORTCATEGORY $EXPORT_DIR system
Now you can clone the production master repository database.
After that's done we want to restore our system settings for the old environment without changing the tasks , tables and other production related data.
./dacAutomationUtils.sh IMPORTCATEGORY $EXPORT_DIR system
In a normal architecture you would put procedures in place where a designated master repository is maintained and then cloned to the different testing and production environments.
To export the master and then import into the next env issue the following commands.
Switching environments between the two statements :
./dacAutomationUtils.sh EXPORTCATEGORY $EXPORT_DIR logical ./dacAutomationUtils.sh IMPORTCATEGORY $EXPORT_DIR logical
This will copy all setup tasks and flows from one env to the next. No need to rebuild , all of this is copied for you.
